The creator and director of this award-winning comedy musical, Joshua Hopton-Stewart described his production to me as follows:
"Basically, the show is set in the 1950s in the deep south of America, Louisiana. Three teenagers hide out in the forest on Halloween and take what they think are innocent herbal pills that will just give them a buzz for a couple of minutes. But they end up tripping out for three days. Scared they're going to get in trouble, when they return to town and their families, they lie and say they were abducted by aliens (UFOs and aliens was a hot phenomenon in the '50s particularly). The town is turned upside down and the kids become celebrities. Then other people start doing bad things and lying and blaming it on aliens and abductions."
Hilarity ensues! :D
The brief was to create a promotional poster for Josh's show that harks to the 1950s. It should be colourful and vibrant, a little bit ridiculous and it should capture the spirit of the show. Horror movie posters from the time were suggested as reference material.
